Out of the loop

I have to confess I have been distracted with family events and am just now catching up on my RRS feeds and back to writing. Boy have a missed a lot. Tech teachers have gone wild at the recent NECC conference in San Antonio Texas. I know I will never catch up with all the great discussions about the use of technology in education. The ideas and energy were flowing and if you want some updates check out these few blogs and podcasts.

So what is my point ?

Well don’t let your eyes glaze over when you see the volume of information. Instead give a fantastic hurrah for all those teachers who are taking this opportunity to paint the stage for the 21st century learner.
Let a fellow blogger, parent leader, Jeannine St. Amand in New Brunswick, Canada., describe
how she sees technology and parents meshing together.
Jeannine’s post about the Quebec English School Boards Association recommendations for the use of the Internet. The theme is consistent with the professional development outlined at the NECC conference.

I am hoping that some of the recommendations in the QESBA report will become common place in all schools. What is needed now is parent professional development. Once parents embrace the new technologies the barriers of time and opportunity will come down.
