Flip camera engages Niagara Catholic parents and serves as model for Epstein’s Teachers Involving Parents in Schoolwork program.

Since 2007, the Niagara Catholic Regional School Council has supported a Parent Reaching Out Project that has seen the use of the Epstein Model of School Family and Community Partnerships. In the third phase of this project, Ana Truden, a Grade six teacher at St. Mark Catholic Elementary school has been using a Flip video camera and the student portal to link parents to classroom activities.

I had the pleasure to interview Ana this evening as we discussed how she has been using the Teachers Involving Parents in Schoolwork program created by Dr. Joyce Epstein to give parents a window into the classroom and keep in touch with what their children are learning.

Ana talks with me to celebrate the success she is having using the Flip video camera. She discusses how she created and uploaded the videos to the student portal, the equipment she used and how she connected with the parents to get their approval and participation. Please listen to the recorded show.
