Parent Involvement Program
NIagara Catholic Regional School Council
The Student Learning a Parent Focus Program is focused on how to improve the dynamics within the school system to overcome barriers, anticipate the potential issues and foster attitudes about effective parent engagement. Developed by parents and educators in the Niagara Catholic District School Board, the program is a response to the Minister of Education’s call for projects that engage more parents in their child’s learning.
Most likely you are visiting this site as an involved parent leader or school administrator. You are looking for answers to the questions of how to get parents involved and how to keep them involved
It is hard not to be frustrated whether you are a parent, teacher or principal. We all feel challenged to get parents involved and usually for the same four reasons: Communications ineffectual, strained relationships, low participation rates and few parent leaders.
The Student Learning a Parent Focus Program has been developed as an interactive multimedia presentation that combines this web site, a Handbook and DVD to present the program. The handbook and DVD are available both online and in your local Niagara Catholic School. Please contact your School Principal to obtain a copy.
The DVD has been created as a stand alone presentation for general viewing and a supplementary introduction to the handbook online.
The Student Learning a Parent Focus online handbook features interviews with parents and educators sharing their personal perspective and experiences in meeting these challenges.
You are encouraged to use the program resources to engage more parents in supporting their children's learning.
We wish you every success in increasing parent involvement in your school and supporting your students as they become graduates of our Catholic schools.
